Manaslu Trek

Manaslu Trek

Still Jiri to Everest base camp and to Arun valley trek itself is extremely beautiful walking lots of ups and downs mean, it is one of the best options to lose your weight and gain good health and mind. Start hiking at the altitude of 1939 m. and climb up to 5365 m. EBC and 5545 m. the Kalapathar Peak without problem, because you are well acclimatized. Along this trail you will cover seeing the gorgeous mountain sceneries, natures, villages, have best chances to experience the different cultures, the daily lifestyle of people who live there and closely interact with them.
If you have enough time to continue to Arun Valley Trek (AVT) would even be perfect to see and experience the “live-museum” for example Bung, Chheskham, Gudel, Salpa Phedi and further. Or as a good option doing it is; Jiri – Bupsa turn to right to Pangom and Bung – Gudel – Salpa pass – Phedi and Tumlingtar. Its lodge trek, between Bupsa and whole AVT trail is with basic food and accommodation.
Now, you can drive to Salleri from Kathmandu, which shortens 4 to 5 days. Or you can fly from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and continue to hike all the way to EBC and fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu or walk down to Salleri and long drive to Kathmandu. It always depends on your best available time duration.

How to get there?

Kathmandu – Arughat Bazaar 608m (8 Hrs/approx)

On 7th of November 2011, there were nine members including Dr. Claudia we left for Manaslu trek. It was good idea to leave Kathmandu early to avoid the traffic gridlock and (all being well) arrive at Dhadingbesi (580m) by lunch time. It is roughly a 4 hour bus trip. Dhadingbesi is a big city and it is headquarter of the district. After having lunch here, we continued driving to Arughat (608m) of Gorkha. We arrived there by late evening, because of the bumpy rough road. At Arughat, there are many campsites and lodges to stay overnight. We did set our tents in middle part of the town, which is after the bridge over Budigandaki. Mainly Newars and Gurung people live in this town as both sides of the river. You can view west face of Ganesh Himal Range. There is a police check point as well.
