The Combined Mohare Danda and Khopra Danda Trek is a spectacular off-the-beaten-path adventure in the Annapurna region. This 08-12 day trek combines two of Nepal’s beautiful and less-crowded ridge trails, offering a wonderful mix of panoramic mountain views, traditional villages, peaceful forests, and authentic local culture. Starting and ending in Pokhara, the trek passes through charming Magar and Gurung villages, lush rhododendron forests, terraced hillsides, and scenic high ridges. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna, Manaslu, and many other Himalayan peaks.
The trek is an excellent choice for travelers who want to experience the beauty of the Annapurna region while avoiding the busier trekking routes. For those with enough time and good fitness, the optional hike to Khayar Lake (around 4,500 m) adds an exciting high-altitude adventure to the journey.

Itinerary
Day 01: Pokhara – Pathichaur – Lespar (2,015 m) Drive & Trek: approx. 7 hrs
Drive from Pokhara to Pathichaur and begin trekking through beautiful hills and traditional villages toward Lespar, a peaceful Magar settlement.
Day 02: Lespar – Nagi (2,260 m) Trek: approx. 5-6 hrs
Continue through beautiful forests and rolling hills to Nagi, a charming village known for its traditional houses, terraced fields, and warm local hospitality.
Day 03: Nagi – Mohare Danda (3,300 m) Trek: approx. 6–7 hrs
Trek gradually uphill through beautiful rhododendron forests toward Mohare Danda. In the evening, enjoy spectacular mountain views and, weather permitting, a beautiful Himalayan sunset.
Day 04: Mohare Danda – Swanta (2,260 m) Trek: approx. 5 hrs
Wake early to experience an unforgettable sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After breakfast, continue trekking through forests and traditional villages to Swanta, a beautiful Magar village surrounded by terraced fields.
Day 05: Swanta – Chistibang (2,950 m) Trek: approx. 4-5 hrs
Leave Swanta and continue toward Chistibang. The trail gradually enters quieter forested terrain with beautiful mountain views along the way.
Day 06: Chistibang – Khopra Danda (3,660 m) Trek: approx. 2-3 hrs
A spectacular day as you ascend toward Khopra Danda. As you gain elevation, the Himalayan panorama becomes increasingly impressive, with magnificent views of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri.
Day 07: Khopra Danda – Khayar Lake Excursion (around 4,500 m) Day Hike
Enjoy an optional day excursion toward Khayar Lake, a beautiful high-altitude lake surrounded by dramatic Himalayan landscapes. This is a challenging hike and is best suited to trekkers who are well acclimatized and physically prepared.
Day 08: Khopra Danda – Dobato (3,420 m) Trek: approx. 7 hrs
Descend through beautiful forests and alpine landscapes toward Dobato. Enjoy spectacular views along this quieter section of the trail.
Day 09: Dobato – Ghandruk (1,940 m) Trek: approx. 7 hrs
Early-morning hike to Muldai Viewpoint for a spectacular sunrise over the panoramic Himalayan ranges and surrounding landscapes. Return to Dobato for breakfast, then continue downhill through beautiful forests and traditional settlements to Ghandruk, one of the most famous and picturesque Gurung villages in the Annapurna region.
Day 10: Ghandruk – Pokhara Drive: approx. 2-3 hrs
Enjoy your final morning in Ghandruk before driving back to Pokhara by local vehicle, completing your Mohare Danda and Khopra Danda adventure.
Essential Information
Best Time to Trek
The best seasons for the Mohare Danda and Khopra Danda Trek are:
Spring: March to May
Autumn: September to November
Spring is particularly beautiful because the rhododendron forests are in bloom, while autumn generally offers clear skies, stable weather, and excellent mountain visibility.
Winter is also possible for experienced trekkers, although higher sections can become cold and snowy.
Trek Difficulty
The trek is considered moderate to challenging, particularly if you include the Khayar Lake excursion. You should be comfortable walking for several hours a day on uneven terrain, with some steep ascents and descends.
Accommodation and Meals
Accommodation is provided in basic local teahouses and community lodges along the trail. Facilities are simple, particularly in the more remote sections, but the warm hospitality of the local hosts makes the experience special.
Teahouses provide basic but hearty meals, including Dal Bhat, noodles, rice, pasta, soups, eggs, bread, and other local and Western options, depending on availability.
